My name is Alyssa St. Pierre and I believe in being positive about life and never going a day without laughing.  It’s the small things in life that makes me most happy.  Being an only child, I have always cared for others very much.  A specific event in my life has helped me learn to let things go quickly and understand that if people don’t like me there is nothing I can do to make them like me. 
            This quote fits my personality to a Tee.  I am optimistic about life and believe that everything does happen for a reason.  Though I may not know it immediately everything I am dealt with in my life is dealt to me for a specific reason.  If I couldn’t handle it and learn something positive from the specific situation then I wouldn’t have been faced with that obstacle.  Another believe I have is that no one person is better than anyone else.  I have taken advantage of the opportunities that have been given to me and just because someone else given those same opportunities who did not take advantage of them does not make them of worse of a person.  For example, someone in jail for burglary is not a bad person they may have just made a bad decision that has left them where they are today.
            After graduating from UMF I want to go to graduate school and get my Master’s in Social Work.  After getting my Master’s I will be working with children and young adults that come from broken homes.  I also would like to work in corrections with young adults who are in trouble with the law.  It is in my hopes to show this population how much he or she has to offer and just because their parent’s have made mistakes or they have made mistakes does not mean that they can’t make a positive learning experience from it.
