The intake assesment was a great assignment. It was interesting to do it on a subject of your choosing. I did mine on one of my friends, and a lot of stuff came up that she had not shared with me before. I like that assesments are comprehensive and encompass the whole person, not just one aspect of who they are.
The adaptive device assignment for Therapeutic Recreation is one of my favorite assignments from my time here at UMF. I made a velcro book for my cousin Joshua who is on the Autism Spectrum and has speech and sensory delay. We actually used this velcro communication book with Joshua, and it worked very well for him!
The 3-day wheelchair simulation was a very hands on assignment, because you were in a wheelchair for 3 days straight. I actually had to start my assignment at home because I had to attend a funeral. I got a unique experience because I began in my hometown, so I had different challenges than people who did their simulation in Farmington.
Myself as a Helper 1 and Myself as a Helper 2 These are two of my favorite assignments. This made me look at myself and analyze who I am as a helper. I think it is always intersting to look at and evaluate yourself constantly. This was a great opportunity to do so, and I learned a lot about myself from this assignment.
This is a paper I wrote on Muscular Dystrophies, I found this paper to be extremely informative. I learned so much about MD that I did not know before.
