“Because a man who doesn’t spend time with his family can never be a real man.” – The Godfather
My name is Jonathan Robert Fisk. I am a student at the University of Maine at Farmington studying Rehabilitation Services with plans to graduate in May of 2009. I have lived in Maine my entire life and wouldn’t have it any other way. I love the wilderness. I will always remember summer cookouts down at my grandfather's on the ocean, driving through the mud and ripping up the ground in the Spring, playing soccer throughout the fall, and in the winter getting ready for swimming and snow ball fights. I plan on attending graduate school in the future to obtain my masters in counseling. After that, my plans are to see the world and all that it has; good or bad.
Family is important to me. I grew up in a family of four; my father Edwin, my mother Deborah, my younger brother David, and me. Hard work and never leaving a job half done was taught to me by my father. Education is very important to my mother and she had made sure that I took advantage of every opportunity and helped me along the way. My brother has taught me that honesty is the best policy. My brother and I are able to be open with each other and discuss anything.
After graduating from Brunswick High School in 1976 my father had started working for Hopeman Brothers who was a contractor for Bath Iron Works. From 1978-1983 he worked as a liseneced tinsmith; and in 1983 he became an Estimator for the Department of Cost and Proposal Estimation were he is a Senior Estimator to this day.
After graduating from Brunswick High School in 1974 my mother went to the University of Maine at Orono and received her Bachelors of Science in Education. In 1998 she continued her education at the University of Sothern Maine acquiring her Masters in Education. In 2005 she had graduated From UMO again, this time with her Certification in Advanced Studies in Education Leadership. from 1979 - 1980 she was a Title I Richmond Middle School tutor. In 1980 she became a Middle School teacher at Richmond till 1999 when she became the Principle of Richmond High School; and in 2008 she became the principal of the Middle and High School.
My brother David is also a student at University of Maine atFarmington. There seems to be nothing that i cannot tell him. Like all relationships, ours had its ups and downs but neither of us would be who we are today with out each other. My brother is my best friend, and through thick and thin he will and has been there for me.
My grandfather is someone that I look up to very much. I have been very fortunate to have him in my life. I have learned almost everything I know from him. Every boy has a man they look up to; mine is my grandfather.
