On the morning of August 6, 1945 the bombing of the city of Hiroshima occurred and changed modern warfare forever. Just 3 days later on August 9th another atomic bomb struck the city of Nagasaki with the same destructive force as the first. The United States hoped that this show of force would cause the empire of Japan to sis hostilities and unconditionally surrender. But, was it all necessary? Was the bomb really used in the way it was intended? How do you weigh out the bad from the good?
