Annotated Bibliography 1. Alperovitz, Gar. Atomic Diplomacy: Hiroshima and Potsdam: the use of the atomic bomb and the American confrontation with Soviet power. New York: Penguin, 1985 -The book Atomic Diplomacy gave an look into the reasons why the bombs where dropped and provides shocking facts about the real reasons behind the decision to use the atomic bomb. 2. David Smith, “I Don’t Blame them but I Hope they Mourn the Dead,” The Observer, 2005, http://www.guardian.co.uk/secondworldwar/story/0,,1535156,00.html -This article supplied me with a quote related to my topic that gives a shocking look at one of the men that delivered the bomb. 3. Feis, Herbert. Japan subdued; the atomic bomb and the end of the war in the Pacific. Princeton, N.J., Princeton University Press. 1961 -This book was one of my first sources. Its information gave me an outline on the effects the bomb had. 4. “Hiroshima & Nagasaki - the Worst Terror Attack in History The Record Speaks...” Tamilnation.org. http://www.tamilnation.org/humanrights/hiroshima.htm -This website contains everything and makes it easy to obtain great pictures, artwork, quotes, and general history. 5. Kiyoko Tanimoto. I COULD NOT FORGIVE. http://www.socialstudieshelp.com/Lesson_95_Notes.htm -Gives a great survivor recollection and contains much information on the Manhattan Project and other parts of the bombs history. 6. Leslie R. Groves. Now it Can be Told: The Story of the Manhatten Project. New York: Harper, 1962 -This book contains a look into the Manhattan Project from its administrator Mr. Groves who wrote the book. 7. Peter Wyden. Day one: before Hiroshima and after. New York: Simon & Schuster, 1984 -This book was useful throughout my research it contains just about everything and gave great information about the others plans to defeat the Japanese. 8. Richard Rhodes. The Making of the Atomic Bomb. New York: Simon & Schuster, 1986 -This source allowed me understand what had to take place to create the weapon of mass destruction and gave me a look into the people who ran the project. 9. Robert Jay Lifton. Death in Life. New York: American Book, 1967 -A book dedicated to explaining the horrible effects of the bomb and what it did to the people who were affected by it. 10. Wheeler, Keith. The Fall of Japan. Alexandria, Va: Time-Life Books, 1983 -This book looks into both bombings and shows its effects on the outcome of the war. 11. Wikipedia, “Hiroshima During WWII,” Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki#The_bombing_2 -This site was used for just about everything. It contained all the information I needed but it always had to be rechecked for its reliability. 12.
