Task:

Welcome to the real world! You are currently employeed as an intern at News 13. Your boss has asked you to create your own newscast with two co-workers.  You have to choose some current event that interests you! You will then have to choose who within your group is going to research the article, and then who is going to be the reporter.  You will also need to have someone who is skilled enough to be a videographer and help you write your script.  In order to show your video you must be able to show that you can fully interpret a news article.  You will have to be able to re-create the story from start to finish in your own words. You will have to show this newscast to your "target audience" and your "boss" before you are allowed to show it on air, so make sure it is appropriate and interesting!

Step Five: Work with your group.  Make sure to create a newscast storyboard where you explain the story in words that you would use in regular speech.  be positive that what you write will be spoken for at least 2 1/2 minutes.

Step Six: Record, Edit and Add any special effects you would like.  Music and pictures are accepted as long as they are appropriate and have to do with the article and are appropriate.  Remember that this is going to be shown to your boss, as well as your target audience, and your job depends on it.

You will be able to use these resources to research the article you choose.  You will be able to find some other articles that link to it that are written by other people, therefore helping you as the researcher get a feel for some of the points of view that go along with your article.  Remember to make sure that any editorial news or tabloid news is not a viable resource, so be careful of that!
