Process
   1.    Find 2-3 other writers with whom you could research and create a "unit" for your characters. The unit could be a family, siblings, coworkers, etc.

2.    Work individually to develop a character that fits your unit and that you would like to become. Don't make the character just like you!

3.    Use the resources page to start your research. Be sure to look for the following factors/people:
a.    The 1929 stock market crash
                           b.    Pop culture references i.e. music, art, clothing
c.    Franklin Delano Roosevelt
d.    The Dust Bowl
e.    Prices for food, clothing, leisure activities, etc.

4.    Working individually, outline the basics of your assumed character.
a.    Your character/journal must have the following:
i.    A full name
ii.    A brief reference to their past
iii.    Occupation (if appropriate)
iv.    Physical description
v.    Description of living situation (i.e. middle, lower class)
vi.    Age
vii.    Education received

5.    Submit your outline to the teacher for approval

6.    Once approval is given, begin to compile notes for your journal entries.
a.    There must be a minimum of 5 sources when compiling your notes.

7.    Once all of this is complete, you may begin to draft your journal entries. There must be at least 5 entries containing 5-7 pages typed and double spaced. The journal entries may span from 1928-1945.

8.    Your journal is to be presented to a panel of "reviewers" and your "editor" on a date to be specified. The presentation will last between 5 and 7 minutes. Your sales pitch must be engaging, convincing and well organized and rehearsed.
