225: Child and Adolescent Psychology

| Examines current psychological theory
and research on physical, cognitive, social, and personality development
from infancy through adolescence. Special topics in child development will
be considered. May provide for experience in observing, testing, and
interpreting behavior. It will explore issues in child and adolescent
development as it occurs in varied contexts such as the family, the
school, society, etc. Not available for credit to students who have taken
a Life Span Development course. Also examines diverse theories of

215: Programming in Therapeutic Recreation

| The emphasis of this course will
center on program planning and leadership techniques in leisure and
rehabilitation activities for persons with various disabilities at both
institutional and community levels.

260: Aging and Mental Health
|
| This course will examine commonly
accepted stereotypes of later life and compare these myths with factual
information about the physical, emotional, and spiritual changes that
often company senescence. Healthy aging will be emphasized and support
systems available to older adults.

330: Psychosocial Rehabilitation
|
| This course focuses on the
development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary to help
persons with mental illness live more independent and productive lives.
Students learn to help persons with mental illness identify strengths,
needs, and preferences for the purposes of planning in such areas as
living, learning, working, and social environments. Principles of
recovery, advocacy, and empowerment are emphasized.

102H: Elementary Spanish II
|
| A continuation of SPA 101, this
course has increasing emphasis on reading and writing skills while
continuing to develop oral skills practiced in Elementary Spanish I. This
is a highly learner-centered course, with many active, hands-on
activities. The course also emphasizes cultural study.
