On October 2, 2004, Rehab Club traveled to Medford
Massachusetts and went hiking with Ski-For-Light.
Ski-For-Light is a group of individuals with visual impairments or blindness that do physically demanding recreational activities.

Rehab Club members were paired with Ski-For-Light
members and acted as visual guides.

Rehab Club hosted it's annual Awareness Day on April 7, 2005.
I was in charge of the event included over 20 presentations and Keynote Speaker Travis Roy.

The theme was "What is Rehab?" and encompassed disability, diversity, recreational therapy, rights and legislation, and
MORE!

National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE)

In February 2005, I traveled to Tucson, AZ with three of my Rehabilitation Professors and five other students to attend the 5th annual NCRE conference.  I had the opportunity to present at the conference on digital portfolios and their significance in education.

Not only was I able to present at the conference, but I also able to attend at no cost.  I went to the student senate and asked for funding, which they awarded me over $400.  I then applied for a research grant and was awarded $500.  This covered all the expenses required to make the trip.

Girls Talk

Girl's Talk is a mentoring program where female college students from the University of Maine at Farmington
mentor young girls in neighboring elementary schools.  Together, the college and elementary student, read
and discuss books.  This program encourages reading and a positive self-esteem.

I was involved with Girl's Talk for a semester and really enjoyed myself and the program.

Leadership Banquet (2004)

In the Spring of 2004, I was invited to the university's annual leadership banquet.
At the banquet I was presented with the 'Above & Beyond' Award for my involvement in Rehab Club.
