"The sun never sets on the British Empire", this quote was once true of the great empire England founded.  Ruling over almost all the world with colonies in every region of the world it was possibly the greatest empire ever seen, but how did it start?  Out of the countries considered part of the Western World, England has had one of the most troubled histories of these countries.  Troubles with the Papal Seat, troubles with France and the Germanic states, and internal troubles England had all of them.  However all of these paled in comparison to the troubles experienced in the late 12th and early 13th centuries.

Magna Carta

The third crusade has severely drained the English Economy almost to the breaking point, the personal troubles of King Richard I Lionhearted further stressed that and on his death the English have lost a strong king uniting England.  His Brother King John has taken the throne as the next male heir of the kingship, his wars and battles have pushed England far past the breaking point.  Further, his actions have angered the Pope the source of the power of heaven in the world.

You look back on this period of time from your desk in the modern day; you are a new member of a documentary studio which is preparing to send people back in time.  Learn this time period, go back, learn more, film it, and show it to the modern world so they can see where democracy truly came from.
